Editing an Entry

Post by auditboy »

I tried editing a posting by going to to the entries.txt file on my server. I chnaged the date and it erase all the entry. The entry I was trying to change forced it into private e-mail mode. Very odd. Am I missing sometning? Is there a way top change a entry.

By the way, I went to edit on my server.

Thank you for your time.

Hello Auditboy,

I have edited a lot of messages and have no problems (but on a different operating system, windows and i first downloaded the file before editing and after editing uploaded the file).

When you edit a date and put in an extra tab (which is the separator for the different fields). The date could get in the private post section which is the entry after the date. Normally an entry Y is added when a post must be a private post, but any entry in this field forces it to a private message.
Perhaps this is what happened to you?

Greetings,
Henrie

Hi,

Two things to try:

1. when you upload the edited entries file make sure it is uploaded in ASCII mode

If that doesn't work:

2. Try changing the $settings['system'] variable in settings.php to 2.
