Update to 3.2.0 Broke messages for customer

Post by Endracion »

Script URL: Removed
Version of script: 2.3.0
Hosting company: DirectHosting
URL of phpinfo.php: Removed
URL of session_test.php: Removed
What terms did you try when SEARCHING for a solution: empty, message, visibility

Write your message below:

After the update, users cannot see replies, they come up empty - also not displayed in the email notifications, even though the message variable is included.
All this was working fine before the update as far as I could tell.
On the admin side, everything is fine, it's just client-side.

I'm going to try rolling back to see if it's better then go back to the newest version.

Could you let me know what exact version you upgraded from to version 3.2.0?

Did you have any modifications installed?

Any chance you can give me access to your help desk and database (via a private message) to investigate further?

Thanks for your reply!

I rolled back to 3.1.2 I believe it was - there's an important part that I now realize having gone through the process.
I used softaculous for the original install and update, and it ignores renamed folders for admin and attachments completely.

So after I rolled back, I installed 3.2.0 manually and followed the install steps, which softaculous skips - they should have a warning for that script in particular.

So all good and fixed! It's a mix of user error and expecting softaculous to work without intervention.

Glad to hear that fixed it!

Not sure if Softaculous can detect your renamed folder - apparently not. So yes, a manual upgrade was the smart thing to do.
