Deleting Tickets

I have let the ticket in my system get way out of hand.

what's the quickest way to delete tickets in bulk, rather than a page at a time

Your best bet would probably be to list tickets on the main admin page, order by date and delete oldest ones (select all, the from the select box displayed below tickets select "Delete tickets" and click "Execute").
