install gives blank page after step 3

i checked this forum post first but to no avail...

i installed easyphp 5.3.1.0 under C:\EasyPHP-5.3.3 (php 5.3.3, apache 2.2.16, mysql 5.1.49, phpmyadmin 3.3.5) (on windows 2008 server)
copied the hesk folder under www folder
changed apache to listen on port 8080 (C:\EasyPHP-5.3.3\apache\conf\httpd.conf) (also have IIS on this server)

made a new database 'hesk' and new user 'test' (pw test) in mysql via the phpmyadmin and set the new user to have all privileges on that database.

ran the install script (127.0.0.1:8080/hesk/install) and all works well until the 3rd step (passed all tests)
i enter :
database host: localhost
database name: hesk
database user: test
password: test
table prefix: hesk_

but it doesn't work.
i tried with the ip 127.0.0.1, i tried with the actual IP address of the server (192.168...) and i tried with :8080 on all previous entries but nothing works... just a long delay and then a blank page.
i also tried giving all priviliges on mysql itself for the user test but to no avail. also tried using root...
did the tests in firefox.

what am i doing wrong here, i can't seem to figure it out and it's really starting to frustrate me (especially because i know that i passed this stage before, just can't remember what i did then)...

help would be highly appreciated!

as an act of desperation i tried again using 127.0.0.1 in the host field and all of a sudden it worked... duh?!?!?!
i'm pretty sure i tried this before...
i only CHECKED the permissions of hesk_settings.inc.php and the directory attachments again (but no changes were made)
ah well, it works now!
