adding image to top of guestbook

Ok i'm new to all this, the guestbook is working great, I just want to add an image to the top, so my question is, am I adding the code to settings.php OR gbook.php and is basic html fine to use?

Don't add anything inside .php files, add the HTML code to "header.txt" and "footer.txt"
