how many links is advisable?

Post by sherrie »

Version of script: ccount 1.1

Hi I came here to ask for advice, because I was having problems with slow loading and crashes and I knew that it must be due to the amount of links on my ccount page, I was wondering if there was a way to make Ccount go to a 2nd and 3rd page instead of all on one page. I have read your forum so I now know that I misunderstood the problem, and the only thing I can do is reduce the links. I got ccount last month and added all the downloads on my site to it.

Link statistics

Total links: 792
Total clicks: 22119
Average clicks per link: 27.9
Maximum clicks per link: 313 (Link ID 725)

can anyone advise the maximum amount of links I should have, so I can work out how many I need to take off?

Thanks

I love the script, BTW,

That depends on many factors, including server software, hardware and the amount of clicks. Normally I wouldn't recommend more than 50-100 links. In your case you should seriously consider getting a MySQL based script.

Thanks, I'm on a sub host so your script was ideal for me, I'll cut it down to 100. it's done very well so far, I only started getting the crash problems after about ID 700
