Another about Mboard spam ...

Hi all Junkyarders

1)
Growing huge daily problems with Spam on (my) our litle Danish Us.Car club Mboard …

2)
As you can see – I,ve ,,internationalized,, our club Mboard in three languages !
simply by using (insert) eXtraText and (insert) eXtraImages
works like a charm – maybee an idéa for Klemen coming updates…
(e.g. with the use *only* of images – it could be changed to ,any, language 1-2-pronto)

Okay – I think – I just rename subdir from Mboard to something else like Mboard_May07
Then I,ve (thought) bougt my self time before the SpamRobots ,find, us again …
But urghhhhh…
this ,solution, works – but then I have to manual also rename into all the existing MSG files
(because otherwise I ,loose, all calls to older explaining images and board calls)
Dam.. - if I just in the beginning have called the Mboard subdir a ,strange, name instead of
/mboard - e.g. - /poelse – then it have been super easy to Find/Replace /poelse with a new
name for a subdir – to stop the SpamRobots (think of this next time you install a new Mboard)

Dont know what to do now – we (the club) are happy with the Mboard – to the tiny traffic we have,
but the everyday cleaning Spam – is so annoying/time-consuming (you all probably know)
But on the other hand, I,ll think it would be ,overkill, to install a DB board for the few contributions we have.

Any proposals to STOP those Dam.. SpamRobot,s from our litle clubboard ?

Ha, this is one of the most colorful posts I've seen in a while

SPAM is evolving all the time and so is the protection I build into my scripts. The first thing to do when you start getting any spam is to see if your version is up to date.

You can see your version information in the "Powered by" link:
Powered by Free PHP message board 1.21 from PHPJunkYard - Free PHP scripts

You have version 1.21, the current version is 1.3, you can always check what the latest version is here:
http://www.phpjunkyard.com/php-message-board.php

The anti-SPAM features have improved greatly since 1.21 so the solution is to upgrade your MBoard to version 1.3.

I know this means a lot of work for you because of all the customization you've done (nice job by the way) but it's the best thing to do to get rid of the spam.

Klemens,
any place who describe how to preserve old contributions ?
Or can I **just** réwrite the mboard.php file and throw it out...
(please say yes - otherwise I,m sudden sitten on the old-age home)

Only you know exactly what changes you did so no one can explain to you how to preserve them

Also so much has changed since 1.21 that you will almost certainly have less work customizing 1.3 from scratch.

Whatever you decide to do make sure to backup your current MBoard.

Hello Klemen & JunkYarders...

1.)
Now the new ver MB1,3 is ,installed, and prepared to our club use,
Thanks god, we in the club agreed ..NOT.. to retablere all the old post.

2.)
Also with the new MB1,3 I maked the combination of text and Images,
to my home composed three language version, - works like a charm.
and this time - I make so it 1-2-vupti can be changed in the MB dir,
if those dam.. spam robots spot us again.

3.)
Under my ,break-in, I got a litle shock - because some contributions,
suddenly was empty, (every 3 in a row) only the text link pointer to the
next contribution was to see - absolutely no post text.

QUESTION:
Maybee - it happend beacause I changed between IP On and Off,
and the same On and Off with the @reply when a new contribution ?
Dont really know - now when I,ve put both to .0. it seems to work.
Anyone ever had difficulty with e.g. IP logging ?

but Who/Where in which files control the js PopUp for the Smiley.Htm
I need it a litle bigger window - and app. 50/50 down from left top
(beacause I,ve replaced smileys to some more suitable for our us.iron club)

QUESTION:
Any one who know where to find .small. max 20x20 ani smileys,
willingly with us cars, - or related to us. car culture

3. IP logging shouldn't do anything with it, if you test a "clean" mboard.php (without any modifications) you should be able to confirm this. Maybe did some typo or something when editing? Can't really give support on modified versions.

4. It's in the external Javascript.js file. Open with Notepad and you have function openSmiley inside. You will find
