keeping a link to old posts
keeping a link to old posts
I was wondering is there a way to have an automatic link to the old posts at the bottom of the board. Right now it's starting to remove old post from the bottom, it is set to save old posts in the settings.php. And I can pull them up manually, but I would like it to link to a second page , third, fourth, etc as posts grow, automatically if possible. Otherwise it rocks so far!
Hi,
This is not currently available, but will see what I can do in the future releases.

This is really important feature.
Within one day I already got 86 posts but then noticed that about 60 was removed despite setting to keep old post.
What's the meaning of a message board and "keep old post" settings anyway if it's not longer accessible?
I don't think it would be too difficult to save the threads.txt file under new name and add link to it. Would be much easier than to simple clean and rewrite the file after a set limit was reached.

The "keep old posts" doesn't delete thos eposts from your "msg" folder, but it does from the threads file to save space.
If you have a busy website/forum I suggest you find a MySQL message board/forum because MBoard isn't designed for busy forums.

Well, i came here to ask exacly that.
I have a board at boards2go, but they only provide 300 posts, so i went to look for board scripts and i found some, this one is so far my favourite. But wont be able o use it bacause i need a script kind of urgently that saves the old posts. A nice solution would be moding this script so it would keep links on the botom like 1 2 3 4 . . . to the old posts. But i am not so experienced in php so i wouldnt menage to fix that, at least not in a short time like i need.
Honestly, that feature is one of the most requested ones. This board doesnt need mysql so is one of the simplest to use, thats a big advantage. If it would have that feature a lot more ppl would use it.
I think that should be the next item on the roadmap.
