linkinfo.txt and some sugesstions

Post by dani0157 »

Script URL: www.games-en-consoles.com\linkman\links.php
Version of script: 1.5
Hosting company: ICD Soft
URL of phpinfo.php: (its not a problem that i`m gonna post )
URL of session_test.php: (its not a problem that i`m gonna post )
What terms did you try when SEARCHING for a solution: searching the forum, reading the readme file

Write your message below:

First i would like to thank you for the great script you made.
I use it on more then 5 hosting domains and it really helped me to get my PR higher.

There are 2 thinks that i would like to report. The first one is that sometimes i need to add a couplove empty line to the file linkinfo.txt so that it is not 0 bytes. Otherwise the script dont want to add new links. I saw that same problem on the forum here.

My second think is not a problem just a observation. There are directories that ( push down urls when new are added ) so for example my link is on p2 and after 5 days my url is on p7. Therefor my link in linkman is not valid anymore.
Also he have problems whit sertion page extensions ( like aspx ).

Are you planning to improve the reciprocal link check system in the new 1.6 ?
and
Maybe you can add a couplove demo links on the new 1.6 so that you can prevent from links not showing on a fresh install.

btw: How about i buy you a beer ?

Hi,
The first one is that sometimes i need to add a couplove empty line to the file linkinfo.txt so that it is not 0 bytes. Otherwise the script dont want to add new links. I saw that same problem on the forum here.
If the linkinfo.txt file has the correct write permissions the fact that it is empty shouldn't be the reason why LinkMan doesn't want to add links to it.
There are directories that ( push down urls when new are added ) so for example my link is on p2 and after 5 days my url is on p7. Therefor my link in linkman is not valid anymore.
Unfortunately there is no way for LinkMan to "know" that. There are who knows how man different systems out there that use who knows how many different paging systems and LinkMan (or any other script) really cannot know where he link has been moved.
Also he have problems whit sertion page extensions ( like aspx ).
As long as it's a valid webpage and the server is properly configured (aspx returns HTML code which can be read by the PHP file_get_contents() function) there is no reason why it wouldn't work (nor has this been reported in several years). Feel free to post a sample URL that doesn't work, I'm sure the reason is somewhere else.
Are you planning to improve the reciprocal link check system in the new 1.6 ?
The code/functionality is improved with every new version, but not for problems I cannot confirm or recreate.
Maybe you can add a couplove demo links on the new 1.6 so that you can prevent from links not showing on a fresh install.
This can easily be added, but I'm not sure how many people would like this idea
