NO ENTRIES FILE - get "chmod 666" but WHAT!

Post by phaich »

Script URL: www.peterhaich.com/gbook.html
Version of script: actual
Hosting company: easyserver.at
URL of phpinfo.php: http://www.peterhaich.com/checkfiles/
URL of session_test.php: http://www.peterhaich.com/checkfiles/
What terms did you try when SEARCHING for a solution: Searched "666"; "read error"; "no entries"; and a lot of things which I already forgot...

Write your message below:
NO ENTRIES FILE - get "chmod 666" but WHAT! -- It is a LINUX-Server, I made an "entries.txt" file, loaded it up, chmodded it to -rw-rw-rw but it didn't work I CAN'T POST anything in the guestbook - while it would be such a good script.
Exact Message:
"Can't open entries file for reading! CHMOD this file to 666 (rw-rw-rw) and make sure your host allows PHP scripts to read from local files!"

I am sitting on it since 48 hours
Thanks for possible help -- brock

Now I didn't look after, but is it not "entries.txt"?

Tx for the fast answer.

I loaded up the gbook with Pablo-"WYSIWYG", so I don't have control about the files will be uploadad.
As fas as I remember I loadad my handmade "entries.txt" to htdocs, where the gbook itself is.

Now it works

Klemen, thanks!

Now I did the following: I put some text into the "entries.txt" file, and since them it works.

Should you have a little time, I would be glad to learn why this came this way.

It even works with my localhost apache lite...

good night - should it be night, where you are...

Not sure what happened. Try uploading a blank entires.txt file again and see how it goes.

Hi Klemen,

I did it. When "entries.txt" ist empty it is not possible to upload the entry.
To change mode to 666 is useless as well.

When I make an "entries.txt" and put it to 666 it doesn't work. When I put "entries.txt" from your package AND put some text in it and switch it to 666 it works - don't ask me why...

Tnx ph
