Fatal error message when accesing gbook

Post by johncat »

Script URL: www.caldey-island.co.uk/gb/gbook.php
Version of script: Gbook 1.5
Hosting company: ftp.businessserve.co.uk
URL of phpinfo.php: www.caldey-island.co.uk/phpinfo.php
URL of session_test.php:
What terms did you try when SEARCHING for a solution:

Write your message below:
I have very carefully followed the instructions installing Gbook 1.5 and checked several times that all is correctly set up and uploaded with appropriate 666 permissions etc. When I try to access the guestbook from my browser I receive the error message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: file_get_contents() in /var/www/domains/c/a/l/www.caldey-island.co.uk/public_html/gb/gbook.php on line 1101

Looking through other posts I see that similar messages have been diagnosed as server problems. My server is running PHP version 4.2.3 and I see that you stipulate version 4.3 or higher. Is this essential and if so, is there a version of Gbook available that will work on PHP 4.2.3?

Hoping you can help.
Regards
John

Hello,

You have a too old version of PHP on your server, from 06-Sep-2002!

Contact your host and ask them to update PHP on the server (they must do it for free). Having such an old and buggy version is far from secure.
