How to change the template?

Hi,

I would like to know how to change the template and suit it to my original template. i tried using the header.txt and put my template in it but how do i know where is the body going?

do i insert <body> in there?

Or can i just use some tag like

<php include header.txt>?

Sorry but i have no knowledge of php at all

Let me clarify my template file. The page is based on a template like this:-
<html>
<header>
<body><my default page navigation contents....tables etc....>

</body>
</html>

So if i wana modify the header.txt, how do i do that? How to call that txt file into my <body>?
