I was wondering if the Smiley's could be incorporated onto the same page as Mboard's (add new topic), rather than as a separate popup.

This can be done, but it would require rewriting a part of the mboard.php file and this is just to much work to explain.
Maybe someone else has the time to help you with this, but I do not.

I thank you for your honest and swift response.
My reason for asking is that some people prefer to block all popups whilst browsing and therefore they wouldn't be able to fully enjoy what is an otherwise excellent script.
I'll just have to educate myself further in PHP
