A new UI is indeed being worked on. The person you linked to is not really involved with it and did just a small "cleaning up" job not design the interface, I will ask him to remove it from his portfolio.

Before you ask me where or when it will be available: I don't want to give a date (gave a wrong one too many times), but the good news is the new version is now under active development so I expect more news in the following months.
