What Date Format Do You Use?

Post by mkoch227 »

Another quick poll. For date custom fields, HESK uses the MM/DD/YYYY format, while Mods for HESK has typically used the YYYY-MM-DD format. Which would you prefer to see?

I'm thinking YYYY-MM-DD is the best as it prevents confusion between MM/DD/YYYY and DD/MM/YYYY formats. However, I'll let the community decide.

Another thought that crossed my mind was to have a "Locale" or "Date Format" property assigned to each profile, along with a system locale/date format. That way users can use whatever format is most comfortable, but that would require a bit more work.

Looks like Mods for HESK will be using YYYY-MM-DD starting in 3.0!

In international environments this is always a difficult issue:
That is why they do this 11-Nov-2011 or 11-November-2011 so no country has issues.

I hope that I understood the question correct and this is not a coding issue
