Signature is only added to staff replies, POP3 fetching processes customer replies.

ok, but when you auto assing the newly created ticket to a staff member, you could also see this as a reply of a staff member.

I'm not sure I understand? If it's from pop3 fetching it is *always* considered a new ticket by customer.

well, indeed, a new ticket has been created from pop3 fetching by customer.
But when processing the hesk_pop3.php, the new ticket will be assigned to a staff member.

so you could say the new ticket email is a kind of a reply of a staff member.
