Is it safe to rename administration folder ?

Post by araviski »

Script URL: hesk
Version of script: 2.5
Hosting company: myself
URL of phpinfo.php: unrelevant
URL of session_test.php: unrelevant
What terms did you try when SEARCHING for a solution: admin folder (too generic) administration folder (no result related to my specific research)

Write your message below:

Hello, I tried to rename my hesk administration folder from "admin" to "adminwhatever" for security purposes and it sounds like it works.

Is it supposed to work ?
Does anybody has already experienced it on a long way ?

Many thanks for your answers !

Yes, it is safe (and even recommended) to do so.

Just make sure you change the "Admin folder:" variable in HESK settings (Help Desk tab) to the new folder name so that email notification links are generated properly.
