Update Custom field search

Post by nandrew »

I searched on this topic and found two articles but both are at least 4 years old and neither method work. The following post was close but did not work either. Is there a way you could update the instructions to allow this feature. I am sure a lot of other users would enjoy this ability.
viewtopic.php?p=8562

I am trying to add a drop down select box or text box with radio button like in the example post. I would like to search on custom field 2 "location" so I can search by location for tickets.
Thanks so much,
Neil

PS
A check box on off toggle beside each of the 20 custom fields in admin settings/custom fields area that would add search for the selected custom fields to the search area would be the greatest future update.
also, a from "date" to "date" search would be great as well.

If you are using the latest version (2.4.1) custom fields should automatically be added to the "Find a ticket" form "Search In" drop-down box (between Message and Notes).

I already have 2.4.1 but don't see the dropdown box or messages or notes. I ran the update anyway and it said I already have 2.4.1 installed.
I have only these:
Search for: search in:
category:
Date:
Search wihin:
Display:

any ideas?

Below "Search in:" you have a select box - click that box and a list of fields should appear.

Thanks for the clarification however, It was still not between messages and notes. I got it working in a test site. I installed a clean copy of 2.4.1 added a custom field and it is there in search. I must have had a bad upgrade to 2.4.1 or something. I replaced the show_search_form.inc.php and find tickets.php and it started working. Thanks for all your help.
