I need some guidance. I have looked for a solution and did not find one - I must be using the wrong search terms.

I am relatively new to PHP and MySQL. I am looking for a short script to be activated by cron which would warn someone that users' memberships of my mysql- driven website are about to expire.

I imagine that this is commonplace on a site such as this one but I have not been able to find the information I need.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
