Hello, I just installed phpcounter at my site but the counter doesn't show. The only thing I am not sure of - whether does my server support PHP or not? Is there easy way to check this?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi,

You can upload this file to your server:
http://www.phpjunkyard.com/extras/phpinfo.zip
(not the Zip file, the php file inside  )

Then open it in your browser and if you see just some strange code then it DOESN'T support PHP, but if you get a large page with tables and settings then it DOES.

I'm installing the graphical script on an intranet page on my fileserver. When I open that test page ... it's just a big blank white. I'm so newbie with this that I hate to even ask the question why! :? But I do need a counter on the main page of my intranet so I guess I need Help (with a capital H.) Any suggestions and pointers in the right direction are much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

If that page came out blank your server doesn't support PHP so no PHP scripts will work there.

Boy am I dumb. I figured that out after I posted. It's installed now...but still trying to get the counter to work. I think my problem is my URL but since this is an intranet rather than a regular web page I'm getting confused a bit. I'll give it a couple of tries and post back if I can't get this rubic's cube to work for me. Thanks so much for the help! 8)

I suggest you frst try and get the phpinfo.php file to work locally - if it does (you should get a page full of data) you're on the right track

I also just installed phpcounter on my site.. The counter will show on my ME machine but I get a "done with errors" on my xp machine. It started to work but then quit. I put a fresh counter.php on the site with no luck.. Any ideas?? I am running your PHP guest book as well as a different php book.. so I know the server support PHP.

Thank you

Hate to reply to my own message, but I found the problem.. I run ADSHIELD and turned it off this morning for a site that I use sometimes and the counters started working.. So I have something in AdShield that is blocking the script from working.

Thank you very much for both the Guestbook and the counter. I have looked at several of each and yours are the best I have found.. I will really enjoy using them. My site is still going together but I will definitely have links to Phpjunkyard.com.

Thanks again!!
