Wrong entry ID hash. Possible problems

Post by webandgrafik »

Script URL:http://www.aubreywhitney.com/gbook/gbook.php
Version of script: 1.7
Hosting company:Bluehost
URL of phpinfo.php:
URL of session_test.php:
What terms did you try when SEARCHING for a solution:

Wrong entry ID hash.

Error
Wrong entry ID hash. Possible problems:

- the entry has already been approved or rejected
- you didn't copy the full approval/rejection URL

Write your message below:

Good day,

First off, thank your time and energy in developing this script. I'm a designer not a programmer (other than css/light js etc), so I'm always impressed with those who can offer usable functionality - this really brings a site to life. Enough smoke blowing ;)

The script works great and integrates well. My only issue is that when someone submits an entry, and I receive the confirmation email to 'accept' or 'deny' by clicking the corresponding link, the deny works, but the 'accept' takes me to an error message within the guestbook that reads:

Error
Wrong entry ID hash. Possible problems:

- the entry has already been approved or rejected
- you didn't copy the full approval/rejection URL

When I refresh the guestbook, the new submission is there, but I'm not sure why I get the error message.

I was using a different guestbook that just got loaded with spam within 2 weeks, so I manually entered the info in the text file, following the format of a session-based entry. Of course I left out my own IP and entered all of the existing info manually into this guestbook.

I appreciate your help -

Kind regards,
Mike Whitney

Hello,

The error you get doesn't make much sense if the messages does get posted (if that message appears the GBook code exits and can't add the entry to the guestbook).

I posted a test entry, please forward the confirmation e-mail to the address mentioned in the entry message.

Also it would help if you posted your phpinfo file (get it here: viewtopic.php?t=83 instead of posting it here you can include a link to it in your email).

Nicely integrated GBook into your Web site by the way. The only thing I would change is the color of confirmation messages (Thank you. Your entry has been submitted for approval.) - red or purple usually give people the impression that something went wrong (an error), maybe a dark green would be better. Just my 2 cents.

Hi Klemen,

Thanks for your response and feedback. Good call on the error message color, and thanks for the kudos on the gb integration ;).

I've uploaded the files as per your email. Hopefully it's what you need and I haven't missed anything.

Worked fine for me, just the notice that displays is very small and the same color as other text, you should make the "gbook_sign_notice" class bold or some other color so you can see it easily.

can't access files

Hi Henrie - that's strange. I can view all links.

What if you try www.aubreywhitney.com OR www.webandgrafik.com

we had a ton of spam coming to the old guestbook and I blocked some IP ranges I'm wondering if your IP fell into a blocked IP range.

Can you let me know your IP?

Cheers,
M

Hello M,

My current IP is 84.28.109.70

It usually is very static, but i had different ones in the past. These were 84.29.233.41 , 84.29.190.40 , 84.29.194.155 , 84.29.196.41
The IP range is of my ISP is 84.24.0.0 - 84.31.255.255

The sites www.aubreywhitney.com OR www.webandgrafik.com both give a 403 Permission Denied error.
