I can't add links to LinkMan

Post by AppAl »

Script URL: http://www.all-travel-links.com/links.php
Version of script: latest

Hello,

I've installed LinkMan, set permissions to all files. I can change site settings, but I can't add links.

When I try to add link I get "success" message, but there is no any link in the list.

I wonder how can I fix it?

In the admin does it show all files in the list as writable?
go into the admin and click the settings link, you should see all files listed there as writable if not there is a problem.

The file that stores the links is not accessable via your site url I checked while this is great for security it may not be writable either.

You can check the links info file my guess is it is empty and can't be writen to

You have to make sure that the file that stores the data is accessable and writable by the server.

Yes.

Checking file status
linkinfo.txt Exists, Writable
settings.php Exists, Writable
banned_websites.txt Exists, Writable
/apptmp (folder) Exists, Writable
The file that stores the links is not accessable via your site url I checked while this is great for security it may not be writable either.

It has rw rw rw permissions (Linux hosting).

Yes I understand that its a nix box but I can access any txt file on your server but that one link file, 666 would not disallow http: browser access so I am wondering if it can't be accessed correctly by the script, even though it says writable as you said.

Script says it's writable (in Admin panel).

Yes, it works now. I don't know what happened, because I didn't change anything since I made first post.

Thanks for your help. :)

I am having the same problem.

I have the latest version of Linkman installed last week. I have just tested adding a link via the admin area and it says that it's added sucessfully, but it's not writing the link to the file.

The linkinfo.txt file is writeable, as are all the others. All is set up by the book, yet the links will not add.

Hey man I just tested adding my link to your site via the front end and it works fine. If you are still having a prob it must be something on the admin end only.

Go look at your page my link was added.

However you do have other problems, try clicking my link ... you are using go.php to redirect, this crashes on your server with internal server error.
normally this would be some type of cgi wraper that triggers this type of error on a nix box with php.

This error can be for any number of reasons based on the host config of the server. I have seen that with files that are set with incorrect permissions as well on some servers.

In any case you do have some problems that you need to look into some of wich may require you to contact the host if you can't nab the prob.

Thanks, just noticed your link. I have taken off the go.php redirect. It's not my server, so I have no idea what the hosting company's setup config is like... as long as it works frontend for now, I can relax and sort it out at a later date :)

Ok if that part works for you for now, you can now delete my link as it was just a test to see what was up with your LinkMan ... hope you get it all sorted out ...
