You cannot sign this guestbook at the moment!

Hello,

If you get the following message...

You cannot sign this guestbook at the moment!

... please read this post carefully!

This post will shortly describe the problem and solution to hopefully avoid another dozen threads about this exact message

So, if you get the above error message this means you did something to upset the JunkMark(tm) filter. JunkMark is an ANTI-SPAM filter built into GBook script.

Once you get that message your are being blocked by GBook within the same browser session. This means you have to close all your browser windows before you will be able to post to your GBook again.

To avoid getting this error make sure you DON'T enter any URLs in the "Comments" field and don't enter any common SPAM words like "Viagra", "Casino", etc...

As of GBook version 1.41 posting URL's to guestbook is disabled by default. You can enable posting URL simply by setting $settings['use_url'] to 1 in settings.php (version 1.41). This will add the "Your website" field to your GBook but you still won't be able to post URLs in comments because they do not belong there and posting URLs in comments is being abused by spammers.

The philosophy behind this is that a guestbook is meant for posting comments about YOUR website and not advertising (posting links to) OTHER websites.

Hope this helps.

Enjoy!

Hi
due to too much spam I decided to upgrade from 1.35 to 1.43 (I made a brand new installation and copied my previous entries file).
The problem with this version is that it does not allow me to post most messages even the simple ones (I tried both in English and in Italian). I also tried to put the junk level to 50, but the problem still remains... I had to turn off anti-spam complitely... (everytime it happened I closed all my browser windows before trying again).

In that case you are probably having problems with sessions. Try reading old posts that had problems with sessions.

If you don't find anything useful (please DO search first) try opening a new thread and make sure you post the phpinfo and session_test files there, you can get them here:

You cannot signup this guestbook at the moment! error message.
I have closed the session as you recommended, still I am not having any success can you please look into this for me, or provide another solution. I have received quite a few e-mails from people that tried to sign my guestbook and could not successfully do so. I would appreciate any help you can offer. here is the website address http://www.hohworshipcenter.net/gbook/gbook.php?a=sign
Thanks a million.

I signed it without any problems, you are doing something to be blocked by the SPAM filter. Make sure you don't post any links in comments or anything unusual.

I had a similar problem (see my previous post) and did nothing to be blocked by the spam filter... the problem seemed to be due to the fact that my guestbook site url was actually pointing to another site so probably the session name did not work... the problem disappeared when I exposed my guestbook url with the actual url.

I just checked it and was able to post as well, I am not sure why, but I wasn't able to earlier. It seems like it is working now though.

Thanks for checking.

Post the URL to your GBook, phpinfo and session_test files (get them here: viewtopic.php?t=83 ) and we will have a look.

Hi Henrie, thanks for testing, and I need to ask you something (sorry all this is very very new to me and I might ask dumb questions, forgive me for that) but does this mean that unless they use opera, they should be able to post (unless they use rude words or URLs in post)correct?
