I am running GBook version 1.35 with the spam filter set to 60%. I keep getting the following e-mail notification regarding a persistent spammer's message:

Hello!

Someone has just signed your guestbook!

Name: jane
From: US
E-mail: jane@hotmail.com
Website: http://www.44dvdplayers.info

Message (without smileys):
Really thought u site great loads of interesting content and updated regularly why don't u take a look at mine I hope u enjoy

Every time I delete the spam entry in my guestbook, the spammer makes 3 or 4 new entries in a row which have to be deleted. First time I've run into this type of spammer.

Can this be stopped with the gbook filter or at least reported to someone at HOTMAIL?

Thanks for any help.

Hello Rizlaw,

Maybe you can use the e-mail spam blocker modification as described in this post viewtopic.php?t=751

Greetings,
Henrie

Thanks Henrie. I'll give it a try, but a sure hope the next version of Gbook has a fix for these nasty spammers that's more robust and includes some kind of black list.

Edit April 1, 2006: I'm happy to report that the link provided by "Henrie" to modifiy the "gbook.php" and "settings.php" files to stop repetitive spammers seems to be working. Haven't seen another spam entry by "Jane@hotmail.com" in over 24 hours. This is good. Thanks again.

I also had this jane@hotmail doing the same thing to me.. One morning I had 37 entries in the guestbook.. I found FruitBeard's post viewtopic.php?t=751 and put it in the same day he had posted it... Great!!! no more jane@hotmail.com..

While I am on the subject, Does anyone know what "Nimo Software HTTP Retriever 1.0" is?? That is what she is using to Post with. I can not find any information other than in peoples stats.
