Script URL: ccounter
Version of script: 2.1.1
Hosting company: Hostgator
URL of phpinfo.php: unknown
URL of session_test.php: unknown
What terms did you try when SEARCHING for a solution: php8.5 ccounter

Write your message below:
First, your program is terrific, used it for several years.
and I looked at the other recent msg about php8.3
Thanks for your consideration.

Hostgator went in and said this:
they modified the .htaccess file on both joyfulsounds.us and gospelcountry.net domains to allow php5.5 code to work.

they set me back somehow to 5.5, but said it was only temporary. Something about putting code in .htaccess on each of the 2 domains.

The said:
You need to add PHP code.
code <IfModule mime_module> AddHandler application/x-httpd-ea-php55___lsphp .php .php5 .phtml </IfModule>

They warned me I need to fix the code as the setback to 5.5 is only available for a short time.

1) I see the version now available is 2.2.0 but I didn't see a list of revisions or differences between the two versions. Is version 2.2.0 my solution?

I thought I had more than one question. I guess the other question is

2) what is the solution?

The solution is indeed to upgrade your CCount to the latest version (2.2.0).

Download the new version, then follow instructions in the documentation.

Here's a copy of the documentation; you should follow Upgrading from versions 2.x:
https://www.phpjunkyard.com/ccount/docs ... tml#update

Thank you for the reply.
And I apologize for getting to this point. I just saw, this morning, the details that ccount WAS updated to be php8 compatible. I feel like a dunce, because I didn't see that post (about the release of 2.2) yesterday when I researched.

I've already implemented the update on one domain. and it works like a champ again.

I'm about to do it to the other domain.

Thank you so much. And again, I apologize for my plea for help which would have been solved by better research.
