Keep Ticket status when updating

Currently when updating the Ticket it will change the "Ticket Status" to.... "reply" or something similar.

Is it possible to keep the "Ticket Status" the same, until someone manually changes it?

When you reply, you have option "submit as". I guess you can "force" the status here. did you try it ?

Correct, instead of using the "Submit reply" button when replying to a ticket, use the "Submit as" button and select the desired status.
