Version of script: 1.35
Version of PHP:
Hosting company: Apis Networks
Have you searched THIS FORUM for your problem: yes
(if not please do before posting)
If so, what terms did you try: warning, chmod
Write your message below: I am getting this error(Warning: chmod(): Operation not permitted in /home/virtual/site212/fst/var/www/html/gbook135/gbook.php on line 36) at the top of the guestbook although otherwise it seems to be working. I am not sure why, although I did add this chmod ($settings['logfile'], 0666); to the gbook.php script below the require_once script. I am not really sure what that did, but this was changed when I was first trying to get it working. I am relatively new to this and any help is appreciated.

You shouldn't add chmod() to the gbook.php (your host doesn't allow executing it), upload the original file again and try it. You should use your FTP program (or telnet, ssh, ...) to CHMOD files, one-time only!
Also I'm not sure why your style.css file isn't working properly? Check file settings, should be something like 644.

Thanks...the error is gone. As far as the styles are concerned, where would I change the file setting that you mentioned? Thanks!

Dear Jurgen - Don't seem to be open a NEW topic so am posting in neaarest
HELP !!!
I downloaded the guestbook updater and have had a problem with a virus . Norton Antivirus quarantined it and said it was a Trojan.Byte Verify and reports several files which I can't find on my computer to be infected 1215986922-0154046910.cache ; count.jar-564fafod-5e0932 ; x pl.wmf ; Count.jar - 564 fafad-244f34 - 3dfe0406.zip
Though I deleted them in Norton Quarantine, I still seem to keep getting the message coming up . I have the feeling it has transferred to my server so would this mean I have to throw out the whole site files.
I made a back up before updating and I already have backups on a separate hard disk. Though I have tried replacing bit the guestbook and mboard from my back ups the real resultant problem is that all data is lost, which I don't understand. I have thrown out mboard and gbook on my server files and replaced them with back up files but still there is no data appearing in them on the web site (
http://www.igniterevival.net) - Why can I not recover data ?
Hopefully you can sort this out - Have tried emailing this too

That's not possible, you got it from somewhere else. None of my scripts has viruses (and my scripts have been downloaded tens of thousands of times). And the files you mentioned
1215986922-0154046910.cache ; count.jar-564fafod-5e0932 ; x pl.wmf ; Count.jar - 564 fafad-244f34 - 3dfe0406.zip
are not part of any PHPJunkyard scripts nor have I ever heard of them. I believe .jar are Java files.

OK Klemen I accept what you say, my apologies, it was just that I got the message when I tried installing gbook. Never had anything like it before.
But do you know where I can find my missing data for gbook and mboard?
As I had back-ups on a remote hard disk, but when I try putting them in, they work but all the data is missing.
Maybe I just have to start again.

Hi,
Not sure what happened, but if you really had a virus it is possible it deleted data from your remote disks? Not really an anti-virus expert here. Since I keep my anti-virus program up-to-date I never had any problems (knock on wood).

Not sure how it could get to my remote disks, which were not connected except some days ago when I did a system back-up.
I also keep my AV up to date and it actually quarantined the offending files.
But informed me of this as I was installing gbook updater - strange.

It must have been something else and you got the warning just when you were installing GBook update. Several hundred people have downloaded the same file as you with the 1.35 version and none of them got any problems with it.
How and what happened on your PC and remote disks I cannot tell, but it doesn't have anything to do with GBook. All files that come with GBook are either plain text (PHP, HTML, Javascript code (Javascript and Java (.jar files) are not the same)) and cannot harm your computer. Feel free to send your gbook files to any PHP expert to confirm what I am saying
