When I edit a ticket with a Select Box, it reverts to the default selection. Is there a way to retain the original selection?

If I go to Edit ticket the select box correctly shows the value.

Could you explain a bit more in detail what and where this is happening?

I create a ticket and use the select box to select a value (this is a required field for the customer).

From the admin area I select the ticket in question in order to edit (to add some shipping tracking detail). At that time I note that the select box has now reverted to the default option of "Click to select". If I do not change this before saving the original value is lost.

I double-checked and this is not something that happens in my test help desk, the select box value remains selected correctly when editing a ticket.

Are you using original unmodified Hesk files? Do you have the latest version installed?

I think I've discovered the issue. I had placed some additional blank spacing in some of the option lines in an effort to make things easier to find (similar to tabbing). However, I noticed that those blank spaces were not retained in the final select box but do still appear when creating/editing the custom field. I removed the excess spaces from one of the lines and selected that option in a new ticket. The selection was now retained when editing the ticket.

I had this very same same issue, but I did not find this post when searching for in the forum.
I searched for -custom field- and -drop down-. So I thought I add this post here, maybe it will help someone find this solution
