Hello.
I have a website with php in it, working perfectly ok.
No problems since I bought it. Fantastic scripts.
Except... I am too afraid to touch the pages.
I loaded one into my notepad from a chat room I built, out of the way.
Added one line of text, and no more chat room.
I used notepad and uploaded using site manager.
Is this wrong?
Doi I need to use a special package to make php?
Is there a WYSIWYG package available.
Do I need to upload it with ISCII or binary?
Do I need to CHMOD pages as 644 ot 701 or what.
WHy oh why did I buy a site with such weird programming.
Oh, I know, members area, automated stuff, makes money, referrals fees, etc, etc.
But now I have to do all the rest, I have books on PHP, and MYSQL, but they assume you want to get going, they teach you the scripts and MYSQL.
But they don't tell you what to use or what it needs.
And don't get me started on MYSQL.
Where is the database on a server....
Can I use notepad, is it in spreadsheet format, can I export.
How do I add $1.50 to a members account?
Is trhere ar script.
How can I tell if a CRON job is not running.
These books are ok for learning the coding, but not very practical.
I mean, even here you give away scripts right, but I just want to load something like Frontpage Express or AOL Express and copy and paste your bit of script into the coding, just like one does with JAVA.
So what is it with PHP that makes it so all or nothing.
It references the root up of the server and uses funny programming symbols.
Is there any program out there that will allow me to safely open/add/edit and upload in correct mod, etc, to then test it all.
Sorry to be a pain, but have 120,000 members who will be very disappointed if I can't get a grip on this thing called PHP.
Regards,
