just heard this:

http://www.deloitte.com/view/en_CA/ca/s ... 0aRCRD.htm

from that page:
As of July 1, 2014, CASL will require businesses to obtain either express “opt-in” or implied consent to send commercial electronic messages (CEMs), including emails and certain types of social media messages. Pre-toggled or pre-checked in boxes will not be allowed. In addition, all electronic marketing messages will need to clearly and prominently identify the sender, include the sender’s contact information and provide an unsubscribe mechanism, unless fully exempted from the Act.
how should Hesk handle this?

thanks

I'm no expert on Canadian law, but I don't believe ticket notifications will fall under commercial messages.

I think Klemen is right. In the Netherlands we have law that is pretty much the same. It is only for e-mail that you did not subscribe for. When you put a question to a helpdesk, you expect an answer.
This law is meant for unwanted mails that are sent by people that buy e-mail addresses to sent mailings.
In the Netherlands also even if you subscribed to a mailing list or something, there must be an unsubscribe link inside the mail that is clearly visible (most often it is put in the footer of the e-mail) so you can easily get rid of future mails.

Greetings,
Henrie
