I couldn't figure out whether switching the language on the frontend also changes the content like knowledge base, category names etc. I only found translations of menus, emails etc.

If not, then I would like to suggest it for a future version. Our organization is searching for a system with multilingual abilities, but it would be preferred that visitors see only content written in their language.

At the moment only the interface language changes.

I do plan to make the content language-dependable as well in the future, but I'm afraid I don't know when the release date for such functionality will be.

This will probably not be included in the 2.x series, but might need to wait for 3.x to be developed (second half of 2014?).
