Problem : site visit counter OR page visit counter

Hi
First of all , thank you very much for your scripts . I use your PHP text hit counter 1.4 . I placed it only in my first page so when i go to other pages of my site and back to the first page the counter increases the number one unit that does not mean " a new visit of site " . please let me now how fix this .
