First of all thanks for guestbook. I have been using it for a couple of years now, and like it verry much because it is so customizable.
With the previous version i had some minor problems with spam so i upgraded everything to version 1.7 ( on two websites ) hoping the new antispam features would benefit me. Well they do, but a bit to good.
I get lots of complaints from guests who are not able to post a message and are all banned permanently from the guestbook. My banned IPlist was full of Ip adresses.
I tried to lower the junkmark_limit to 100 to test it and stil got banned myself trying to post a message someone wanted to post but couldnt.
I actualy had to disable junkmark all together to get the message posted.
I have allready replaced the original gbook.php as mentioned in the post "help i'm banned from my own gbook" with no result.
You can find our guestbook here http://www.villabussola.com/nederlands/gastenboek.html its the message posted at december 15th.
Hoping for a solution....
Kind regards, Peter

The banned IP file was full because GBook by default bans anyone who upsets the SPAM filter (your customers and hundreds of spam bots crawling the web). You can disable automatic ban by setting $settings['junkmark_ban100'] to 0

You're still using version 1.5 there (the Captcha is the old one). You should really upgrade to version 1.7. It has much improved anti-SPAM features. If Junkmark is causing problems (the one from version 1.7 not 1.5!) you can still disable it and enable the new anti-SPAM question.

SPAM evolves and so does the protection so you should keep your GBook up-to-date for the best protection.

Thanks

 This is weird..... I was convinced i updated the guestbook..... as me and my partner both work on our website it must have been an upload mistake from one of us as 1.7 was in the directory, fully configured.....
Oke, my appologies, it's no upgraded to 1.7 lets see what wil happen now.....

Thank for the reply! I'll let you know the results.

Regards, Peter

Peter,

I tested your guestbook on a local install on my machine and the message you mentioned triggered the ban function here too.
It was not one word, but a combination of sentences that triggers it. I haven't had time yet to check what exactly are the triggers so that Klemen can find a way to prevent future problems.

Greetings,
Henrie

Does it ban with version 1.7 too? If yes let me know what the message was (can on a private message) and I will debug it.

Hello Klemen,

The test i did was on version 1.7 on my localhost.
The message was (taken from the guestbook linked in the first message)
I did not do a full test, but quick test showed that the first 2 lines together causes a ban. The lines separately do not.
The same goes for the 3rd and 4th line.

Greetings,
Henrie

Problem found an fixed. It was a language-specific issue that triggered some alerts (can't be more specific here).

You can download GBook again and just upload the updated gbook.php file. If you have modified your gbook.php file you can simply copy and paste the updated JunkMark function.
