Header and footer.txt only working in Firefox and not IE

I have got the header and footer to work at last!
Except it does not work in IE.
I had to use the fowarding address in header.txt to get it to work.
i.e. http://clubsouthampton.port5.com/screen.css
as this is where gbook is located:
http://clubsouthampton.port5.com/gbook/screen.css
I was told to use this url by hosting company.
I have not ftp'd files as it won't work in IE , so you cannot see it working in Firefox.
Once this issue is resolved it will at last be working.
I tried using www as path name but did not work for some odd reason.
