Title: MAJOR Changes to Linkman
Version: work in progress
Author: me (webmaster at baystateservices.com)
Demo: http://www.basementdepot.com/links/links.php
Download: not available
Website: www.baystateservices.com

Short description: MySql based (no more linkinfo.txt), require admin approval before appearing, Google Page Rank display, ability to edit/delete links, suspend links, and maybe more.

*************************************/

I was in need of a link exchange script and could not find one that suited my needs. Of all the scripts listed at Hot Scripts, I tested almost every single one of them - the best one was Linkman. However, after installation, I soon realized some problems - I had to delete a link in order to "edit it". Not having the brains to deal with flat files, I converted the entire script over to a mySQl database.

With that done, I made the ability to edit and delete links. I also wanted to require admin approval and that was simple. With approval feature, could easily suspend links (unapprove them). Added a Google Page Rank to each of the added links, and maybe a few other things I cannot remember.

As this is a work-in-progress, more features will likely be added as I work with it. Any suggestions?

This script is in no shape to be shared at this time, but if there is enough interested in this Mysql version, I will try to put something together for you guys.

Check it out

Nice, I had plans to do something like this myself but I never get around to actually do it. Feel free to post the final version here.

Converting LinkMan to MySQL sure takes the weight off some of us who have wanted it but have not had the time. Here are some ideas to add that can be easier than working with a flat file.

Ability to suspend links instead of delete them when checking for return links.
Add optional images with minimum and maximum sizes allowed. The table would store the image name and all images would be uploaded to into a central folder.

If there is any part of the coding you want help with, post it here and we can all pitch in.

Thank you!

Jim
