My renamed entries.txt file which has been collecting entries for a couple of months has all of a sudden emptied itself to 0 kb. Under what conditions does this happen?

Thanks

You can ignore - I just found a thread talking about text databases and heavy use.

I wish I would have known this before I used this - my site is getting peak activity and probably should be using a MySQL format.

Yes, unfortunately that is what happens sometimes with text databases when they come under heavy load. MySQL is the way to go for you.

Thank you for the reply - I gotta tell you though, I really like this gb, it's simple, clean and devoid of all of the stuff I don't need, want or desire.

Is there a way to simply move this gb from a txt database and use MySQL?

Final question - is there a comparable gb you can recommend? I look at about 30 if them yesterday and just flat didn't like them.

Thanks!

Actually it would require quite some editing and PHP knowledge to get it working with MySQL. I think some time ago someone posted a MySQL version of GBook but I wouldn't recommend using it anymore as it is obsolete (especially the SPAM protection which has evolved greatly n the last few versions).

As for MySQL alternatives sorry can't really recommend any as I haven't used any myself.
