Hi Ren,

It seems that way, but it could be that other (less used) browsers also have problems. Before I could give a good answer I would have to know why Opera behaves this way, but I don't know.
I tested also with some websites that i maintain but they all work fine (altough they use other GBook versions). I tested locally with GBook 1.5 and all works fine. Because of these tests I think it is probably a setup thing with your hosting server, I just don't know what.
Maybe Klemen has some ideas, he's a lot better with php and sessions and such as I am.

Funny, I can't sign your guestbook with Opera 9.24 but I can the demo one Works fine with other browsers so it doesn't look like a server issue...

One thing that comes to mind is try increasing your $settings['junkmark_limit'] limit by 1 in settings.php file. For example if you have it set to 60 now try setting it to 61. Then close Opera, open it again and see if you can sign your guestbook.

If not try again but this time set the $settings['junkmark_limit'] to 100.

If THAT doesn't work see if you can sign it if you disable junkmark by setting $settings['junkmark_use'] to 0

Don't forget to close Opera and open it again before each test. Let us know how it goes.

my problem is that I get this msg even if I close all the browser windows, shut my pc/laptop down , login from another network.
I can only post from outside my home network if I turn the SPAM filter off.

any advise ?

The email is included in the spam filter calculation, but not enough for the error by itself. That's either because your other details (name, comments, behind a proxy) are getting high spam score or your junkmark_limit is set too low.

I made it 70 and worked.


These are my settings for JunkMark

Could someone try my guestbook - I keep getting the cannot sign guestbook message. I have tried another computer, two different web browsers (internet explorer & google chrome). One of my customers notified me of this issue.

I get the message too when entering an e-mail address in the assigned field.
When not entering an e-mail address, i can post.

Tested with Opera 10.00 an Firefox 3.5.3 had as result the message "You cannot signup this guestbook at the moment!" when i enter an e-mail address.

Try increasing the $settings['junkmark_limit']=60; to 70 or so, like mentioned in the previous posts in this thread.

In my version 1.7 the 'JunkMark score limit after...' value is standard set to 61.
So higher or lower value's didn't work out.
I've still encountered this issue: "You cannot sign up this guestbook at the moment!" within Opera 10.60.
I believe it has to do with the 'bad words' filter (don't know for sure).
I also found out it's only happening by filling in the E-mail field and leave the website field blank.
Or..visa versa, fill in the website field en leave the e-mail field blank.
(Filling in both fields that's not working at all, leaving both fields blank works for sure, but that's not the intention of this guestbook, I believe)

There are 2 possible solutions that worked out for me:

considering the website field:

1. disable the 'bad words' filter (not recommended, or try to edit the list of bad words and shut out the words with signs
that are familiar with common allowed signs in addresses)[don't disable, edit instead]

Considering the e-mail field:

2. enable E-mail addresses visible for public.[not necessary!]

3. try to set higer values (60 to 80 orso) for the 'JunkMark score limit after..' (this doesn't do much harm if the values are not too high, of course).[could be a solution!]

Extra:

4. disable private messages (don't know if this is a issue, I don't think so but I did disable it)[not necessary!]

5. disable the spamfilter (highly not recommended, but eventually it works for both fields).[not necessary!]

For myself I could easily try the 1st option since I'm Dutch so I probably don't need the English based Bad Words list. I've edited the list as I've described.

Notice: These are based on my findings, I hope it'll help for others.
It's still an very annoying bug whether it's on the browser side or on the GBook/server side. Clearly, I don't want to blame anyone or anything and certainly not the developer(s), but the bug is still there. I 'm not a person who knows it better (I'm not a developer), just a simple user who's trying to find a workaround.
I'm still going to use especially this guestbook nevertheless because it doesn't need a database and it's made for PHP purpose. Thereby it looks quite nice and neat. It's also easy to edit the css template to your own needs. So all these credits goes to the developer(s).
