Glad to hear you figured out the install problem.

I don't think commenting out a line of code fixed the problem, it just hid it and likely caused other issues What exactly was the problem with submit_ticket.php? What error if you turn ON debug mode in Admin > Settings > Help desk and try the submit ticket again?

Line 211 is default due date
And so far we haven't had any issues with submitting tickets or with due dates
I'd have to check the error log again tomorrow to see if the error log went into more detail
