Browser spellcheck does not work in HESK admin

Post by puniksem »

Hi PPL, I'm currently running version 2.4.2 HESK (licensed) and enjoy it's stability so far no issues found, apart from one incompatibility with my Firefox browsers spell checker plugin. namely that while editing knowledgebase pages in admin, I cannot spell-check anything in the editor. However the spell-checker does function when submitting tickets from the frontend of HESK. it's okay with every other website and all through my various Joomla installations. It's rather frustrating that I cannot spell-check anything in HESK knowledgebase pages.

I thank you in advance for any help or suggestions you can offer.

Regards

I'm afraid that's one of the downsides for using a "WYSIWYG" editor for knowledgebase articles and one of the reasons I haven't added the same editor for tickets.

So is there any suitable workaround to this problem? I really need a spell checker for the large amount of articles that I publish on my sites, I've recently purchased two hesk licenses, is that why you ask for funding to provide updates and solutions?

I am indeed looking for workarounds as I agree this is a problem that deserves solving. The problem is FireFox doesn't recognize the TinyMCE generated text as plain text. When I find something I will post it here and include in the next version.

I appreciate you supporting my work by purchasing a license. However, please note that HESK development has and will continue no matter how many licenses are purchased. All funds received help covering my costs and are very welcome, but don't come even close to cover all the countless hours I have, do and will spend developing and supporting HESK.

If you believe you did not receive your money's worth for the license please feel free to contact me, I will gladly refund your purchase. Your HESK will work exactly the same without the license, just the "Powered by" links will be present at the bottom.

It's not about the money, its about an effective solution to the problem. Having the licences shows that I support the HESK project and in doing so have faith in your work, I have done so for years, not looking for alternative helpdesks. I appreciate your earnest effects and will always support your hard work.

OK, this seems to work (version 2.5.2):

1. Download this file: http://www.hesk.com/extras/tiny_mce_spell.zip

2. Upload the "tiny_mce.js" file to your HESK "inc/tinymce/3.5.9" folder (overwrite original file)

3. Force refresh your HESK "Add article" page (open in browser and press Ctrl + F5)
