missing links, lost links

I have used ccount for 4 years. I have identified over time over 200 links. Everything worked just fine, until the last few days (within a month timespan). Now when I go to the admin panel, ALL my previously identified links are missing! I checked with my hosting company, who says 'nothing has changed in the last month'.

What else can I check? (no, I do not have a backup that I can restore...) I really do not want to have to enter in all those links again, let alone wonder what the counts were!

missing links

WOW... your comments provided me with quite an education! Not sure how to proceed... rebuild my 200 links and make sure I have recent backups for the next time it crashes. or, purchase a script/mysql/etc. to do the same thing. I use ccount for a church, so they don't have much money for purchasing. It is a low volume for 'clicks'. They want to know the number of clicks per month for the 200 different links. but instead of zeroing them every month like I had for a couple of years, I changed my procedure to compare the totals from last month to the totals from this month. Maybe I should go back to zeroing them every month (UGH).

Is there an easy way to zero out ALL the links at one time instead of individually?

Well, unfortunately it's like that with text files - they easily get corrupted when accessed by several instances of the script at the same time.

The problem is there is no way to predict if and when this will happen. Some use CCount without a problem for many links, others may get a corrupted/emptied links file even on a low-volume page.

Since you already experienced this issue my suggestion would be to rather go the safe path and find a MySQL based script.

I don't know of a MySQL click counter script, you might find a free one, try browsing www.hotscripts.com for a solution.
